Duality
Recorded at Axis Studio and mixed at FON in Sheffield, `Duality' developed
the narrated poetry and vocal styles found as snatches on previous
recordings, which for this recording became the structure and basis of
tracks. The track `Red Harvest' was influenced by the writings and life of
Dashiel Hammett. The text in the middle was written by a friend of the
group (coincidentally called George B. Shaw) and finally narrated by band
percussionist `Q'. The background noises of cigarette smoking along with
the sounds of bourbon being poured and drunk are all intentional and in
fact aided the final result! The typewriter was a recording (in a bath) of
an old Bartlet portable.
